The laws Concerning YAHVEH

Laws Concerning YAHVEH

1.      To know that YAHVEH exists (Ex. 20:2; Deut. 5:6 I am YAHWEH your Elohim who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.7‘You shall have no other Elohim before Me) This command teacher us that in the redeemed community YAHWEH is Sovereign, Elohim is a spirit, He is one with His Sons, He is eternal, all prayers must be directed to Him alone, the words of the prophets are true concerning His Son Yahushua our Messiah, there will be no other Torah, His Word are final and unchanging, He knows the thoughts and deeds of all men, He will rewards every good deeds and punish the wicked at the resurrection.  To believe that YAHVEH created and controls the universe. This is the most basic and fundamental of all teachings, the essence of all reality. To understand that YAHWEH is the Absolute One, the Ultimate One, the Only One, and the Unique One. YAHWEH has no physical dimensions. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all. He is the only Creator; all else are His creations.  “The foundation of all foundations and the pillar of all wisdom is to know that there is a Creator who created the universe with profound wisdom.

2.      Not to entertain the idea that there is any other sovereign EL, but the Eternal (Ex. 20:3 “You shall have no other Elohim “gods” before Me. 4“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the YAHWEH our El, am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.) This command teacher us that there are many gods in heaven, all spiritual been are gods, however the one that must be worship is the YAHWEH EL ELYON, He is the Mighty Ones of all other gods, and Master of all Lords. El YAHWEH is the one that sits on the Throne in the Heavenly Kingdom. In the redeemed community there must be nothing in our lives that take the place of El YAHWEH who rules from Heaven. Everything in the universe was created by Him. Judaism completely rejects the dualistic notion that evil was created by Satan or some other deity, everything comes from El YAHWEH. As Isaiah said, "I am the YAHWEH, and there is none else. I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create evil. I am the EL, that does all these things." The basic of this fundamental idea: Everything is from YAHWEH. There is nothing else. YAHWEH is completely independent. He is the Absolute Authority. He is the Master of All. Everything depends on the awareness of YAHWEH. His Oneness is most unique. He is unlimited and has no physical limitations. His power is forever. He is everywhere. We use human terms in describing Him and His actions, only because we are limited in understanding YAHWEH.

3.      Not to blaspheme the name of YAHWEH, the penalty for which is death (Lev. 24:16And whoever blasphemes the name of YAHVEH shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall certainly stone him, the stranger as well as him who is born in the land. When he blasphemes the name of YAHVEH, he shall be put to death.) This command teacher us that a mature believer will not blaspheme the sacred name of hwhy, since He is the Sovereign God, His Name is Set Apart for He is Holy. Using the name of YAHWEH in a derogative sense shows a general lack of reverence for the One who is Holy, Holy, Holy. The three holy depict extreme Holiness, which is associated only to our Heavenly Father. Therefore His Name must never be used in for example as a swear word, or to curse, this is one of the negative commandments. However we can call on His name when we are in any distress. This mitzvah has two aspects: the mitzvah to die al kiddush YAHWEH (in sanctification of YAHWEH’S name), if necessary, and the mitzvah to always live al kiddush YAHWEH. YAHWEH is the Creator of everything. He made us and gave us His Torah. Thus: One must give up his life rather than deny YAHWEH’s existence, commit adultery, or cause bloodshed (the three cardinal sins). If one is ordered to commit any sin in front of ten Jews, he must give up his life rather than commit the sin. If one is ordered to commit a sin at a time of shemad (persecution), he must accept death, even in private.

In our daily lives we are obligated to sanctify YAHWEH’s name. If someone behaves in a manner which upsets people, even if he is not doing any specific transgressions, this is a chillul YAHWEH.... A wise person must be meticulous with his actions and act beyond the letter of the law. When he is careful to speak, he or she should speaks with gentleness to others, in which they are involved with them, greets them even if they shame him, honors even those who are disrespectful to him, conducts his business dealings honestly. He or she is always seen studying Torah...and acts in ways that are within the Torah’s requirements, until everyone praises HIM, loves HIM, and desires to emulate HIS deeds: this person is sanctifying YAHWEH’s name.

4.      To hallow YAHWEH’s name (Lev. 22:32 You shall not profane My holy name, but I will be hallowed among the children of Yisrael. I am El YAHWEH who sanctifies you,). This command teacher us that in the Hebrew mindset, a name is not merely an arbitrary designation, a random combination of sounds. In the redeemed community a name conveys the nature, the very essence of the thing been named. It represents the history and reputation of the being named. His name should be treated with the same respect as the Mighty Elohim reputation. For this reason, YAH's Names, in all of their forms, are treated with enormous respect, holiness, and reverence. This does not mean we cannot call on His name! We can call His name anytime we want, because we love Him and respect Him, as a loving child calls on his father in love. There are several Attribute to the Name of the CREATOR.

·         YAHWEH יהוה – The Self existent One, the One who will all things into existent.

·         YAHWEH EL ELYON – YAHWEH is the Most High Power of Power.

5.      Not to profane YAHVEH's name (Lev. 22:32 You shall not profane My Set Apart “יהוה” Name, but I will be hallowed among the children of Yisrael. I am YAHVEH who sanctifies you.). This command teacher us that one way of profaning His name is when we say we belong to Him, yet we do not do what He tells us to do in His Word. Or when we do not do His commandment, His Precepts and His Statues. Among the redeemed His Name must be glorified. It is like a woman who takes the name of her husband, wet refuse to perform the duties of a wife. When we refer to HIM as God, Or The Lord, we are profaning HIS Name. HIS Name will always be “יהוה” YAHWEH. There are many attribute to HIS Name as show in number 4.

6.      To know that Elohim is One, a complete Unity (Deut. 6:4 Hear, O Yisrael: The YAHWEH our El, YAHVEH is one!) This command teacher us that there is a Father, there is a Son, and there is a Holy Spirit. However, they are one. One in Spirit, one in loyalty, one in Love, one in doctrine. The doctrine of the trinity goes against this fact that Elohim is One. When we keep HIS commandment and walk in the fullness of His Spirit, we will be one with Him.

7.      To love El YAHWEH (Deut. 6:5 “You shall love the EL YAHWEH our El with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.) This command teacher us that this is a rational concept that we must develop, it is not a feeling, it is a state of been. It is a cognitive decision we are to make for Who YAHWEH is to us. John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. Love is based on knowing YAHWEH, which is developed by studying His teachings. Therefore, we have three methods by which we can achieve love of YAHWEH: studying His Torah, analyzing His Mitzvos, and contemplating His creations. Included in this mitzvah is the obligation to bring other people closer to YAHWEH. One who loves someone will sing his praises and tell others to love him, too. This is what Avraham Avinu did, because he loved YAHWEH, he taught everyone around him to follow suit.

8.      To fear Him reverently (Deut. 6:13; 10:20 “You shall fear YAHWEH our El and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name.) This fear is to hold YAHWEH Name in the highest revere, not in a fearsome dread, but in high esteem. In Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of YAHVEH shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of YAHVEH. This command teacher us that prayer is the service of the heart. We are required to praise YAHVEH, ask Him to fill our needs, and thank Him for His help daily. Prayer is so basic and fundamental that it stems from the very beginning of our history. Avraham Avinu, our first patriarch, instituted shacharis (the morning prayer). Yitzchak, his son, instituted minchah (the afternoon prayer), and Yaakov, the last patriarch, instituted maariv (the evening prayer). Prayer allows a person to communicate with his Creator, the source of his life and sustenance. When we our daily prayer, we connect to our Creator in an incredible way. In order to appreciate this opportunity to the fullest, we must realize that we are standing before YAHWEH and praying to Him. We are commanded to fear YAHWEH, who is the Absolute Power. He watches everything we do and holds us accountable for all of our actions.

9.      Not to put the word of YAHWEH to the test (Deut. 6:16 You shall not tempt YAHWEH our EL as you tempted Him in Massah.) This command teacher us that we can put the Word of YAHWEH to the test, by allowing it to accomplish what it say it will accomplish in the positive sense. However, we must never question the power, or the ability of the Word of YAHVEH to do what it says it will do, negative).

10.   To imitate His good and upright ways (Deut. 28:9 The Master will establish you as a Set Apart people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the YAHWEH our El and walk in His ways.) This command teacher us that every Kingdom has a constitution, the Kingdom of Heaven has the Commandment, the statues, the precepts, I call them my constitution. Whenever we abide by the constitution of any kingdom, we become a good citizen of that kingdom. The ruler of that kingdom usually gives portfolio to those who establish themselves as defender of that constitution. The Kingdom of Heaven is no different. We have to follow YAHWEH’S ways of kindness, mercy, compassion, and so on, as much as possible. For example, we are taught, “Be holy, for YAHWEH is holy” (Vayikra 19:2). Because YAHWEH is holy beyond anything that we can comprehend, the Jewish nation has always been the most holy nation.

We become holy when we fulfill the laws of the Torah, and we study YAHWEH’S ways and endeavor to model our thoughts, attitudes, and behavior after YAHWEH. Other examples of following YAHWEH’S ways are: To be kind to others, even when they are not appreciative of our efforts, as YAHWEH is always kind to us, although we don’t always acknowledge Him and His kindness. Forgive others when they apologize, as YAHWEH forgives us when we repent. Be more patient with others, as YAHWEH is extremely patient with us. Be humble, as YAHWEH is. “Wherever we find His Greatness, we also find His humility”. The Talmud teaches, “A person should always be soft and flexible as a reed, not firm as a cedar tree”.
